Injured in a slip and fall?

Slip and fall accidents may seem minor — until they’re not. A sudden fall can cause broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, and long-term mobility issues. Whether it happened at a grocery store, apartment complex, workplace, or parking lot, Illinois law may entitle you to financial compensation if the property owner failed to keep the area safe.

Illinois premises liability laws

Under Illinois premises liability law, property owners and occupiers must maintain reasonably safe conditions for people lawfully on their property. If they knew — or should have known — about a hazardous condition and failed to fix it or warn you, they may be legally responsible for your injuries.

Slip and fall claims fall under this category. Common examples include:

  • Slippery floors with no warning signs

  • Ice or snow on sidewalks or parking lots

  • Broken stairs or loose railings

  • Uneven flooring or carpeting

  • Potholes or sidewalk defects

  • Cluttered or obstructed walkways

  • Poor lighting in hallways or stairwells

  • Spills that are ignored or left unattended

Even though insurance companies may try to blame you, Illinois law focuses on whether the property owner acted reasonably in preventing the hazard.

Proving a Slip and Fall Claim in Illinois

Illinois law generally requires proof that:

  1. A hazardous condition existed on the property

  2. The property owner knew or should have known about it

  3. The property owner failed to take reasonable steps to fix or warn of the danger

  4. You suffered actual injury as a result

To prove your claim, we gather surveillance footage, incident reports, witness statements, inspection records, and medical documentation. This allows us to build strong, evidence-driven cases.
