Children Deserve a Second Chance
When a minor is charged with a crime in Illinois, everything changes for the child and for the family. The legal process can be different from adult court, but the consequences are still serious: detention, probation, school discipline, loss of scholarships, and a juvenile record that can follow your child for years.
If your child has been arrested, accused of a crime, or contacted by police, they need more than a defense — they need an advocate who is able and willing to defend minors and young adults with strength, discretion, and compassion.
Common Juvenile Offenses
Some of the more common juvenile offenses we see include:
Theft, shoplifting, and burglary
Vandalism or criminal damage to property
Drug possession or underage marijuana use
Battery, assault, and school fights
Gun possession charges
Disorderly conduct or threats
Sexual misconduct or sexting allegations
Internet or social media-related offenses
Traffic offenses
Can a Juvenile Be Tried as an Adult in Illinois?
A juvenile can be tried as an adult in Illinois, but only under specific circumstances. Under Illinois law, prosecutors can file a petition to transfer a minor to adult court if:
The child is at least 16, and
The offense involves an alleged murder, aggravated sexual assault, or aggravated battery with a firearm.
